It looks like the President will announce his Supreme Court nominee at 9PM.

Senator Schumer from New York castigated Secretary Snow today for not taking any action on China's manipulation of its currency and its significant affect on trade deficits and loss of jobs in upstate New York.

I am looking for some help on understanding what tabling an amendment means.  The Amendment Chuck referenced was one that he said was "a shot across the bow or warning, if you will, to you Mr. Secretary, that unless you take action their will be a crisis."  The Chair of the committee agreed with Chuck Schumer and remarked that for the 67 Senators to AGREE on an Amendment is highly unusual these days.

Here is the Congressional Record, it would seem this was a positive for Schumer.  Here is the part I am confused with:

The Dems may have survived the Schiavo case by taking no action or getting out of the way.

But what about the future. Has Harry Reid been a good leader thus far, has the Democratic elite become to centrist?

I hold the belief that a Pro-Active policy is better than a Wait-and-See. The Democratic tent is very large, but we have lossed touch with the Moderates and progressive left.

What is your opinion, we continue it from last night?

This is a terribly hard issue to talk about because it involves someone dying. No one wins in this. I know I am going to open a pandoras box with this question, but why did the democrats skip the ability to talk about this issue? The polls are for us, in favor of Michael Schiavo and the remvoal of the tube. You may not have liked Tom Daschle, but he would have been on all of the TV shows talking about this. I am upset that Harry Reid did not listen to John Kerry a few weeks ago and become alot tougher on Social Security and many other issues. Harry Reid - don't wuss out, stay in the fight to differentiate.
